LAGOS in the west is one of the most historically interesting coastal towns in the Algarve. It was here during the Age of Discovery that Henry the Navigator had his vessels built for the voyages of exploration down the coast of West Africa.

One of Portugal’s most luxuriant and charming areas, it is wreathed in fig trees, orange groves and almond trees. Apart from the wealth of available golf and aquatic sports facilities the Algarve also provides a host of other activities including tennis, horse-riding, walking, fishing trips, as well as countless Spas, beaches, restaurants, cafés and quaint bars where you can sample delicious local cuisine. The standard of living is high and costs are relatively low compared to northern Europe.

Porto De Mos Beach is a long wide sandy beach backed by high cliffs with stunning views. The beach shelves gently into the sea and you can play in the crashing surf. There are sun loungers and sun shades available to rent.

Porto de Mos is a short distance from Lagos. Lagos is a beautiful market town set within one of the largest bays on the Algarve. Within the historic walls there is an abundance of cafes and restaurants along it's cobbled streets. The marina de Lagos offers a touch of elegance with its restaurants, shops, bars and cafes and is also an important yachting centre, where many boating trips can be arranged. The area is ideal for both families and sports enthusiasts.

There are numerous fantastic beaches and championship golf courses. The renowned Boavista golf facility is within 2 km of the apartment and also provides spa, tennis and football pitches. Other interests can also be enjoyed including surfing, windsurfing, bike riding, walking and numerous sight seeing tours such as dolphin and whale watching.

The fantastic Algarve shopping centre is 30 minutes away as are two water parks and Zoomarine.

To the west of Lagos the once upon a time fishing village of Praia da Luz is now devoted to the quieter side of the tourist trade and is the home of many residents from the colder northern climates. Further to the west is another small fishermen's beach village of Burgau. Moving even further west is the coastal village of Salema. Here will be found some small Roman ruins proving the existence of its past importance.

The furthest west town is Vila do Bispo and is a very small administrative town for the Sagres area, the later being the most south-westerly corner of Europe! This area is a must for every visitor to the Algarve as it presents a very impressive and dramatic sight of towering sheer cliffs being beaten by the weight of the vast Atlantic Ocean. It is from here that Prince Henry sat and planned the several epic voyages of discovery that enlarged the known world of that time.

To the north of Lagos on the road to Lisbon is the small town country town of Aljezur with some fine nearby west coast beaches. Originally a hamlet, the Moors constructed a castle in the 10th Century whose ruin still stands today overlooking this town.

Flying: Cheap flights to Faro are available via RyanAir, Aer Lingus,Easyject, Flybe, Jet 2, Thomson Fly, Palmair, etc. as well as with scheduled and charter airlines. Booking early can secure excellent deals. On arrival at Faro, you can travel to the apartment by car, taxi or train.

Car: All major car rental companies are well represented at Faro Airport. Advance booking is advisable and this can be arranged for you with two local companies. The journey takes approximately 50-60 minutes mainly on the motorway and directions will be sent to you.

Taxi: Taxis cost between 75 and 115 Euros each way depending on time of day and number of passengers. Remember to check and agree the price with the taxi driver beforehand.

Train: The train from Faro to Lagos takes about 2 hours and costs approximately 8 Euros per person each way. NB. You will need a taxi from Faro Airport to Faro Railway Station.

Airport Shuttle Transfer - http://www.faroairporttransfers.com/ - This is a private mini bus ideal for groups/families travelling from the airport to Lagos or people travelling with golf clubs. This should be booked in advance. Price Example : €64 for 4 people, €76 for 8 people

Travel information:

By Car (from Faro Airport to Lagos):

- Take the EN 125 towards Portimão /Lagos.

- After about 5km, exit the EN 125 and take the A 22 (IP1) slip road towards Lisboa/ Portimão/ Albufeira (just after the Espanha slip road).

- Stay on the A 22 for about 80 km until you see a sign for Lagos Oeste-Vila do Bispo.

- Take this exit and you will drive to the west of Lagos.

- After about 2km, you will find a roundabout; drive straight ahead until next roundabout. Turn left on the way to Lagos.

- At next roundabout take the first exit to the right,continue through the next roundabout and finally turn right at the following roundabout.(Development can now be seen ahead.)

This exclusive complex has a beautiful tranquil landscaped garden area and a swimming pool with separate jacuzzi. The apartments share the pool facilities and sunloungers are also provided. The pool area and gardens are lit at night.

There are balconies leading from every room in the apartment, bar the bathrooms. The main balcony overlooks the pool area and is very beautiful at night with the garden and pool area all lit up.

The master bedroom and living room have a shared balcony with terrace furniture for al fresco dining.This balcony has a brilliant view over the swimming pool and also has sea views.

There is an outdoor Shower/WC and Jacuzzi/ Hot Tub located in the outdoor pool area.

Sun loungers are also located at the pool which are solely dedicated to this apartment.They are locked and a key is provided along with the apartment.This insures sole use by this apartment.

During peak season check out days are flexible.

The apartment is cleaned and linen is changed on stays greater than one week or longer (mid -week towel change, weekly towel and bed-linen change). Further cleaning and linen changes can be arranged if required at an additional cost.

Basic Food Essentials such as milk, bread, tea, coffee, cereal etc. can be provided if desired at a minimal cost (€15 - €30).

25% of the full rental amount is due immediately in order to secure the booking. The remaining balance is due 8 weeks before the start of the booking.

Even though we receive a check out report we do ask that renters please let us or the management team know of any breakages that may happen during your stay.
